HKN Food Drive
April 11, 2016
HKN is proud to announce that we will be holding a non-perishable food drive! All items will be donated to Food Finders, a non-profit organization in Lakewood dedicated to “eliminating hunger and food waste while improving nutrition in the food insecure communities we serve.” You can check them out at www.foodfinders.org. Attached is a flyer for the food drive and a list of items that Food Finders is in need of.
Remember, being an HKN member is not just about maintaining good grades, but also about being a contributing member to your community. Please take time out of your schedule to collect and donate food for this cause.
The donation bin will be located in the IEEE-HKN office by the back door. You can drop off items any time the office is open. Please do not donate items in glass containers. Thank you in advance for your donation!
Engineering Girls Day @ The Beach and MESA Day
March 3, 2016
Engineering Girls @ The Beach is fast approaching. This event gathers more than 150 elementary students that are interested in the STEM field. They will have the chance to be exposed to the various fields that CSULB has to offer. There will be several workshops taking place and hosted by faculty, staff, and students.
With that being said, are YOU interested in being involved? Here is your chance to lead, volunteer, mentor, and have fun at the same time! (Great event to put down on your resume.)
All volunteers will be contacted via email and will need to attend a brief meeting, prior to the event, to discuss volunteer tasks. Here is key information to know before signing up as a volunteer:
- Date: March 18th, 2016 (Friday)
- Time: 7am-2:45pm
- Volunteer tasks:
- Chaperone: You will be assigned to a group of students and you will be their leader for the day. You will take them to their workshops and designated areas.
- Extra: Set-up, Clean-up, Serve Lunch, and possibly assist on workshops
We are looking for all-day volunteers to help us prepare for this event. All day volunteers will get priority. If you're interested, fill out the link below:
The first 20 all-day volunteers are guaranteed a free shirt! All volunteers get a free lunch as well!
Please sign up by March 4th, 2016.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Ijya Karki at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!
