Volunteer Opportunity: EE Department Tenure-Track Faculty Presentations

Volunteer Opportunity: TBP/HKN/PTS Beach Clean-Up

The engineering honor societies Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, and Pi Tau Sigma are joining the monthly Beach Clean-Up conducted by Save Our Beach on Saturday, March 21 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM in Seal Beach. Parking in the 1st Street Beach lot is free during the clean-up. It is required that you check-in at the Blue Canopy on the Grass to receive a parking pass.

Volunteer Opportunity: MESA Day @ The Beach

February 26, 2015

MESA Day @ The Beach will be held on Saturday, March 7 and March 14 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Volunteers will be needed for various tasks such as judging projects, proctoring math tests, and monitoring students. The first Saturday will have students from middle school and the second Saturday will have students from high school.

All volunteers must attend one of two mandatory orientation sessions prior to the day of their volunteering. There are listed as follows:

Thursday, March 12 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM in EN2-302E.

Friday, March 13 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in ECS 202.

Volunteer Opportunity: Meals on Wheels of Long Beach

Meals on Wheels is a non-profit voluntary community service for persons unable to prepare adequate meals for themselves because of disability, age or chronic or temporary illness, thus assisting them to remain in their own homes. Meals on Wheels provides home delivery of two nutritionally balanced meals per day at nominal cost and is available to all Long Beach area residents, regardless of age.

There are a great many opportunities in which you can help out, including:

Typing/Office: 7:00 AM - 1:30 PM

Food Packer: 7:30 AM - 10:00 AM

Development Office: Data Entry, Graphic Design, Website Maintenance, Marketing Assistance; 10 AM - 2 PM

Driver: 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Friendly Visitor: 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Volunteer Opportunity: Math Day @ The Beach 2015

Math Day 2015 will be held on Saturday, March 14 (Pi Day of the Century). Volunteers will be needed approximately from 7:30 AM to 3:30 or 4:00 PM, but it is fine if they can only help for part of the day.

Assembly Night will be Tuesday, March 10​ in the Math Department conference room (FO3-200) from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This is the night when the volunteers will be putting together the materials and prizes for Math Day.

New Recording Secretary Sabina Subedi

It is with great pleasure that we announce the joining of Sabina Subedi to our 2014-2015 officer board, effective Tuesday, January 27, 2015.

Sabina Subedi was inducted into our chapter in November 2014 and will no doubt be critical in fulfilling our mission to the departments of electrical and computer engineering at The Beach.

Resignation of Recording Secretary Edwin Almeida

January 19, 2015

It is with regret that today we must announce the resignation of Edwin Almeida, who is resigning from his position of Recording Secretary from Eta Kappa Nu, Epsilon Theta Chapter effective Tuesday, January 20, 2015.

Edwin Almeida started with our chapter in November 2013 when he was inducted as the Recording Secretary and eventually got re-elected last May. He has been a valued part of our team over the past academic year and many here have enjoyed working with him.

Edwin will be concluding his undergraduate education this coming May and will be focusing on his future electrical engineering career. We wish him every success in his new endeavors. Please join us in sending our best wishes to him. Thank you very much.
